Brown Water LLC (“Brown Water Banter,” “we,” “us”) operates brownwaterbanter.com, the Brown Water Banter mobile apps, the Gulf Coast Weekend Brief email, and an SMS bait-availability program. This policy explains what we collect and what we do with it.

Information we collect

Email addresses. If you subscribe to the Gulf Coast Weekend Brief, we collect your email address and store it with our email provider, Brevo.

Mobile phone numbers. If you are a bait shop that participates in our live-bait availability program, we collect the business phone number you gave us, along with the shop name and contact name.

Usage data. Our website and apps collect standard analytics — pages visited, approximate location by region, device and browser type — through Google Analytics and the Meta pixel. This is aggregate data about traffic patterns, not individual identification.

We do not collect payment information on this site. Merchandise orders are handled by our shop provider under its own privacy policy.

Mobile information is never shared

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Phone numbers collected for the SMS program are used only to send and receive the bait-availability messages described below. They are not sold, rented, or shared for marketing.

SMS program

Participating bait shops receive messages from Brown Water Banter asking what live bait they currently have in stock.

Message frequency: Friday and Saturday mornings — approximately 8 messages per month.

Message and data rates may apply.

Participation is voluntary and by verbal consent given directly by the shop owner or an authorized employee. Reply STOP at any time to be removed. Reply HELP for assistance. Reply START to rejoin.

Shop responses are used to display live-bait availability publicly on brownwaterbanter.com and in our mobile apps. We publish the shop name and what bait it reports having. We do not publish phone numbers.

Email

The Gulf Coast Weekend Brief is sent free. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We do not sell or rent our email list.

How we use information

To send the Weekend Brief, to operate the bait-availability directory, to understand which content is useful, and to respond when you contact us. That’s it.

Third-party services

We use Brevo (email), Google Analytics (website analytics), Meta (advertising and analytics pixels), Twilio (SMS delivery), a third-party cloud database provider (data storage), and YouTube and podcast platforms for media hosting. Each has its own privacy policy governing data it processes.

Data retention

We keep email addresses until you unsubscribe. We keep SMS consent records and phone numbers for as long as a shop participates, plus a reasonable period afterward to document that consent was given. Analytics data is retained according to the provider’s default schedule.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message. Opt out of SMS by replying STOP. To ask what information we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email info@brownwaterbanter.com.

Children

This site and these apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the most recent change.
